Codes & Standards
Kevin Brinkman has been actively involved in codes and standards development for over 25 years.
He has served on and has chaired several American Society of Mechanical Engineers committees which develop safety standards for the elevator and lift industry.
In addition, Mr. Brinkman serves on the ICC/ANSI A117 committee for accessibility and several NFPA Technical Committees.
Brinkman & Associates utilize this expertise to aid in the development and certification of products to meet the codes and standards for the North American Market and beyond.
Product Certification
Brinkman & Associates has experience in various types of product certification, including working with third party certification agencies, the FDA, and various state or local authorities.
Mr. Brinkman's experience includes certification of products by UL, ETL and CSA to meet the requirements in ASME standards. Kevin has worked with the FDA in guiding new products to essential premarket certification and follow up reporting.
In addition, Kevin has worked with several state and/or local authoritites to provide the required documentation and testing to receive approval to sell products in those areas.
Product Development
The formal training in engineering and years of experience with the design of various products for the lift and elevator industry, along with knowledge of applicable safety and accessibility codes and standards provide a very strong background to aid in product development.
Brinkman & Associates have assisted in design work on multiple levels; as individual consultants, as part of teams, or as managers. Mr. Brinkman is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois.

Kevin Brinkman has been directly involved in the management of manufacturing teams as well as providing engineering support. He has managed large teams responsible for fabrication, welding, painting and assembly of products.
Kevin has provided support in quality control, including the development and maintenance of a quality control system designed to meet the requirements of FDA for medical devices.

Kevin's expertise and experience in all the afore mentioned categories has led to requests for his servcies as a trainer on items such as Codes & Standards, Product Certification & Development, and more.
His continuing work with organizations like ASME and NEII plus his knowledges and experience in the industry allow him to assist compaines and individuals working to understand and maintain compliance with various codes and standards.
